Have a Craft Brewery Adventure on the North Shore Ale Trail

November 16, 2021 |

Vancouver’s North Shore Craft Beer Week may only take place each fall, but there’s a lot to explore on the North Shore Ale Trail year-round, with fun activities and ten breweries to choose from for your après drinks. The BC Ale Trail is a series of self-guided itineraries highlighting local craft breweries throughout BC and the super, natural landscapes that surround them. Here on Vancouver’s North Shore, you’ll find that our beer is cold and our welcome is warm. Our craft breweries are our social hubs where local flavours are enjoyed with our neighbours and for an evening you can live like a North Shore local after a long day exploring.

Vancouver’s North Shore offers endless adventures before an après brew. When the snow falls, skiers and boarders can hit  Mt. Seymour, Grouse Mountain or Cypress Mountain. For a more romantic experience, try skating at the region’s largest outdoor skating rink in The Shipyards District. On sunny days you can bike or rollerblade on the North Shore Spirit Trail. If you are craving a forest adventure, try visiting Capilano Suspension Bridge Park or go mountain biking. And for a taste of culture, check out The Polygon Gallery or the Inuit Gallery in The Shipyards District.

Create the ultimate experience by pairing your activity-packed days with a chilled evening around a flight or two. Choose one of the top brewery destinations along the North Shore Ale Trail:

Beere Brewing Craft Brewery in North Vancouver

Beere Brewing Company is committed to authentic craft beer with its own unique taste. They offer a wide range of beers in a modern, minimalist setting. Their beers are brewed from the best ingredients and in exciting styles like their Raspberry Lemonade Sour or Double Dry Hopped Mango Milkshake IPA.

Black Kettle Brewing has a welcoming community vibe paired with its delicious beer selection. Don’t miss their “Musical Bingo” night every Tuesday for a chance to win great prizes while grooving to music from the 80s and 90s. If you have brought your family pet on your vacation, you can bring them along to the dog-friendly brewery.

Bridge Brewing Company is big on making delicious beers and food (like tasty tacos) that satisfy both you and our planet. They take a zero-waste approach when it comes to beer making – their beer production is amazingly 99% waste-free.

Deep Cove Brewers + Distillers offer not just craft beer but craft cocktails too, so if the person you are visiting with isn’t a hop-lover they will find no shortage of options on the menu.

House Of Funk Brewing is a micro-batch brewery specializing in sours and by day a specialty coffee roastery. Their small batch systems allow them to push boundaries and experiment with different brews like their dry-hopped sour ale with blood orange, guava and vanilla.

La Cervecería Astilleros is striving to bring colourful, rich Mexican culture straight into the heart of North Vancouver in the form of delicious craft beers and Mexican food. Take yourself to warmer climes right here on the North Shore with their Chipotle Brown Ale or Hibiscus Gose.

North Point Brewing has the intimate, rustic feel of cabin living and offers an array of craft beers including “The North Point Expedition” — a line of small-batch beers that are abnormal, unique, and awe-inspiring (and may change weekly).

Streetcar Brewing is a cozy tasting room with a large patio right in the heart of The Shipyards District – Lower Lonsdale. Pull up a chair and sample beers like their LoLo Lager and perhaps take a moment to reflect on how craft breweries are now playing a role in connecting people to their communities — just as the streetcars in Lower Lonsdale once did!

Wildeye Brewing has a big, welcoming tasting room with lots of tables for catching up with friends while drinking their popular lactose-free Creamsicle Pale Ale.

If you are checking out multiple breweries, consider staying at a local hotel with these deals!
