Check right into the hotel of your choice before heading out to a waterfront hotspot for lunch. Enjoy a rustic locally sourced pasta at Arms Reach Bistro, a seafood tower at Pier 7, or fresh seafood and salads from Beach House, all with beautiful views of the water and surrounding scenery.
Gear up and go for an early evening stroll around Rice Lake. The Rice Lake trail is an easy, peaceful loop around the lake that will take around an hour of your time. If you can’t wait for dinner, pick up coffee and snacks for your walk from End of the Line General Store.
Visit the popular Nemesis Dope Bakehouse for morning coffees and pastries, be prepared to get there early to join the line up with the locals. If you’ve woken up with a pang of real hunger and need something more substantial to set you up for the day, make a trip to The Bakehouse for big breakys and tasty brunches.
Now you are fueled up, let’s make our way into nature! The Hollyburn Mountain trail is a great half-day hike for when you want to escape into the wilderness. If you make your way to the peak, the view lets you see for miles!
Stop in at The Workshop for delicious vegetarian dining suitable for the palettes of the biggest meat-eaters. Dishes include Spicy Tan Tan Ramen, Kyoto Style Udon, and vegan steamed bao.
Once your belly is full you will make your way up the Capilano Road to Grouse Mountain. After travelling up the Skyride to the Peak of Vancouver, you will find a number of scenic trails to explore through forests and around Grouse Lake. The more adventurous (and fit) of you can start your time on Grouse Mountain by climbing the 2,830 stairs of the Grouse Grind.
End your day by sampling the distinctly British Columbian cuisine of Altitudes Bistro while overlooking the grandeur of the Lower Mainland, some 3,700 feet below.
Indulge in a home-cooked Beatdown Breakfast Sandwich and Cinnamon Crunch French Toast at BLVD Bistro before heading for the hills. Following the Yew Lake Loop on Cypress Mountain is a 4.3km trail that will take you to the Bowen Island Lookout with views of the vast expanse of Howe Sound.
