This group is for both amateur and experienced artists, and we welcome all skill levels. You can drop in for 1or more sessions, or register for the series.
The 3-hour session will have a series of short poses to warm up (1 and 2 minutes) and a few long poses (5 minutes to 15-25 minutes).

We believe the best clothes are the ones you already have!
We are offering two, two half-day workshops we will discuss the impact fashion has on the environment, dive into at-home natural dyeing techniques using kitchen waste, and highlight imperfections in a creative, eye-catching way using interesting and fun visual mending techniques to reinforce and repair clothes you already own.
Things to bring:
-Kitchen waste, Cabbage ends, avocado pits/skins, onion skins/core
-Light-colored garments made of cellulose-based fibers (bamboo, linen, rayon, cotton, hemp, ramie) the more you bring the more you can dye!
-Prewashed Garments with holes in them and prewashed Techniques
This workshop series is led by Hollis Nelson
A painter as well as a community engaged artist, Hollis’ practice involves hosting up-cycling workshops and neighborhood art drop-ins, showing other artists work, mentoring young artists, feeding the community and organizing clothing drives. Hollis began offering her slow fashion workshops out in the community at Ray Cam Community Centre last summer and has since expanded to other community centres; Trout Lake, Douglas Park and Dunbar.
