The Shipyards

Over the past decade, Lower Lonsdale’s waterfront has been transformed into a unique, interactive, year-round destination that includes over 85,000 square feet of commercial and community amenity space. The Shipyards features restaurants, cafes, shops and services, a boutique hotel, space for community events, concerts and markets, plus the region’s largest outdoor skating rink in the winter and a splash park in the summer.

The space hosts events year-round including the Shipyards Night Market, Fall for Local Markets, The Shipyards Festival, Vancouver’s North Shore Craft Beer Week, The Polish Festival and more!

Shipyards Commons is a public plaza in The Shipyards District in Lower Lonsdale. Home to a splash park in the summer, an ice skating plaza in the winter and the covered outdoor space hosts events throughout the year!

Shipyards Commons Skate Plaza

The Shipyards Commons Skate Plaza is a free outdoor skating rink open 12 pm-7 pm daily, weather permitting. It’s the largest outdoor ice skating rink in BC! The outdoor rink is set against the beautiful backdrop of the waterfront, Downtown Vancouver, and the North Shore mountains. There are free outdoor skate aids and helmets and if you don’t have your own skates a limited number of rentals are available.

Tip: As outdoor rink ice conditions fluctuate with the weather. Check with the City of North Vancouver before starting your journey.

Shipyards Commons Splash Park

The free Shipyards Commons Splash Park is the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer’s day. The splash park is completely free and is open in the summer season from the Victoria Day long weekend to Labour Day. Bring a picnic to enjoy at the picnic tables or grab lunch at one of the businesses nearby such as Larry’s Market, Jam Jar, or pick up ice cream at Welcome Parlour.
