Three stellar concerts at BlueShore at CapU, and five free events at venues across the North Shore, presented in partnership with Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

Mary Ancheta Quartet

Friday, June 21, 7:30 p.m., West Vancouver Memorial Library, FREE

Canadian/Filipina keyboardist’s quartet, features Trent Otter on drums, Dominic Conway on sax, and Matt Reid on bass.

Lamia Yared

Saturday, June 22, 1 p.m., Civic Plaza 14th & Lonsdale. FREE

Montreal-based singer and oud player and her accomplished band draw inspiration from classical Arabic and Ottoman music.

Terminal City Brass Band 

Sunday, June 23, 1 p.m., Lynn Valley Village, FREE

Vancouver quintet plays upbeat brass-band music with a healthy dose of funk and honk.

Regina Carter and Kenny Barron

Tuesday, June 25, 7:30 p.m., BlueShore at CapU, Tickets: $50

Rare concert by master violinist and legendary pianist.

Luca Benedetti Trio

Thursday, June 27, 7:30 p.m., BlueShore at CapU, Tickets: $30

Brooklyn-based guitarist Luca Benedetti performs with bassist Tony Scherr and percussionist Tony Mason.

Marois Vocal Project: An Homage to Dave Brubeck

Friday, June 28, 7:30 p.m., BlueShore at CapU, Tickets: $40

Réjean Marois leads 11-member jazz ensemble, whose vocalists mimic the sounds of instruments.

June 29, 1 p.m., Civic Plaza (14th and Lonsdale), FREE

Bilingual (French/English) Vancouver quintet draws on jazz, Brazilian sambas, French sixties pop and cabaret music to concoct its own unique sound.

Scott Smith and the Midnight Riders: Allman Brothers Celebration

June 30, 7 p.m., The Shipyards, FREE

Groove to classics by the groundbreaking southern rock group that combined blues, country and jazz.
