Notes from Edette Gagne, Artistic Director of the British Columbia Boys Choir:Music is truly a universal language, and a media that brings our global community together. “One World, One Song” celebrates all that makes us unique and unites us, with music from far-off lands and our home. This show celebrates the power of music to unite cultures, overcome barriers, forge relationships and spread joy.
We are thrilled to have several guest artists joining the British Columbia Boys Choir during our year of 50th Anniversary celebrations: the “Wings Vocal Collective” shares our love of a cappella vocal music, enriching their performances with vocal percussion and choreography. Many of the members have been mentored by present and past leaders of the British Columbia Boys Choir, and they are delighted to collaborate with the BC Boys Choir on May 5.
Five soloists chosen from the roster of North Vancouver’s “Driftwood Dance Academy” will be performing solos, as well as performing while our Touring Choir sings. They include: Isla Crerar, Sophie Crow, Harper Drzymala-Bokitch, Lucia Morris, Kate Walker. These young dancers reflect the global power of music and dance, and their collaboration will lend depth to this powerful presentation.
To celebrate the success of some of our alumni we are delighted to showcase Alex Crabtree, an alumnus of the Choir who continues to follow his passion for Musical Theatre. He will be sharing some of his favourite numbers with us, as he prepares for his debut with the North Shore Light Opera Society in their production of “Into the Woods”.
