Announcing Public and Media Relations Representative - Jane Ince
Vancouver's North Shore Tourism Association
January 2009
(North Vancouver): For the last year, Vancouver's North Shore Tourism Association, through the Community Tourism Foundations program, has been working with Tourism BC on a high-level tourism marketing plan, providing direction for the VNSTA.
The decision to create a joint entity stemming from the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce and Vancouver's North Shore Hoteliers Association has been an ambitious project. This new single North Shore Destination Management Organization (DMO), will play an important role in future planning as the tourism industry on the North shore continues to thrive and grow. "The establishment of a DMO has been the goal of many North Shore industry stakeholders for some time," said Amin Karim, President of Vancouver's North Shore Hoteliers Association. "This agreement creates a single collaborative organization and allows us to speak as the unified voice for North Shore tourism."
One goal of this young organization is to bring awareness of the tourism possibilities to the media throughout the world. In an effort to reach further afield with media, VNSTA has brought Jane Ince, Public and Media Relations Specialist on to the team. Jane will work with media locally and throughout the world to ensure the North Shore is top of mind for Vancouver visitors. Jane will officially take on her role as media relations/public relations representative for Vancouver's North Shore Tourism Association.
"This is a key time for all of us in BC as we head towards the 2010 Winter Olympics." says Jane Ince. "We have the torch running though our beautiful communities, showcasing the North Shore to the world. We have many of the events being held during the Olympics in our midst. We need to leverage all that is good on the North Shore, ensuring our message gets out. We are the spot where nature is in Vancouver. Visitors need to come and see the spectacular options just minutes for the hubbub of Vancouver's downtown core."
