ValleyFest at Lynn Valley Village - February 12-28, 2010

Starting Feb 12th, 2010, and lasting 17 days Lynn Valley Village will host ValleyFest. During this winter celebration the Village will be the centre of activity for the community and a gathering place for family, friends, and visitors. A large outdoor TV screen will show Olympic activities from 10am to 8pm every day of the Games. Don't worry about the weather, there will be tents and outdoor heaters will keep you warm and dry.

Lynn Valley Village Plaza, Site of ValleyFestAt ValleyFest there will be something for everyone: armchair hockey players, budding artists and music lovers. Join a 3 on 3 ball hockey game, try "kurling" or participate in our outdoor playground and cafe. Explore the history of sport and heritage at the Discovery Zone interpretive centre. 

Daily ValleyFest Activities Include:

Cool Kidz - Daily 10am to 2pm

Weekday activities include something for all ages - educational, interpretative and interactive and most of all fun! Elementary school children are invited to visit the site during the week to be entertained, informed, and are encouraged to participate in on-site activities. The North Vancouver Public Library is hosting a reading Olympics for school-age children and Molly the Mountaineer will be on hand to talk about mountaineering in our area.

For the slightly younger folk, a craft area will provide both school age and moms & toddlers with some hands-on fun and creativity.

Discovery Zone - Daily 10am - 8pm

Located in the Community Room of the Lynn Valley Library, the centre will showcase the history of winter sports in North Vancouver and our connections to the Olympics. Displays of winter sporting equipment will provide an up close look for visitors of the workings of various Olympic and Paralympic sports. The North Vancouver Museum and Archives will have present historic photograph displays, and for our out of town visitors there will be lots of information on business, lifestyle and cultural opportunities on the North Shore.

Outdoor Sports Playground

Visitors can try their hand at the outdoor playground - with a playful version of popular winter sports - curling, balancing on wobble boards, ski simulators, hockey and biathlon. Drop in daily, with sign up for three on three hockey tourneys - so get your team together and come on down!

For the Young at Heart

The outdoor café welcomes seniors and offers discounted rates on food & beverage. There will be activities and entertainment geared especially for seniors to ensure that they enjoy themselves at Valleyfest.

Late Afternoons - Outdoor Lounge

Relax in the outdoor lounge at the end of the workday. Get caught up on the latest Olympic news. Have a spicy tea or hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts or hot appitizers, listen to some great live music, try curling for the first time, or some three on three hockey. Watch the medal ceremonies and visit with family and friends.

Weekends

The Playground area will be full on during the day as will the outdoor café. Entertainment will happen on stage at regular intervals; consisting of bands, street performers, magicians, guest athletes and demonstrations. Sports on the big screen might be the ticket, or a visit to the Interpretative Centre.

Weekends will include contests, bands, guest appearances - it's Valleyfest - the 2010 winter event for one and all!

We are located on Lynn Valley Road in North Vancouver in the Lynn Valley Village and Lynn Valley Centre. Think Green. Take the bus, or share a ride with a friend. Buses run regularly from Phibbs Exchange, (210 Lynn Valley), Lonsdale Quay (228 Lynn Valley, 229 Westlynn), or from Park Royal 255 (Capilano University). There is underground parking at the Lynn Valley Library.
